Charles & Ellen

Official Number
76890

The Charles & Ellen was the third vessel built by the Barrow shipyard of D.Noble & Co. She was an iron three-masted schooner and was initially owned by the Millom shipowner William Postlethwaite, from her launch in August 1878. Her first master was Capt. C.A.Reney, later himself to become a prominent shipowner at Connah's Quay, and the vessel was named after the master and his wife.

A sail plan of the Charles & Ellen is reproduced in the book "The Schooner" by David R.McGregor. It shows the vessel as a three-masted schooner and is dated 6th January 1916.

The Charles & Ellen was lost about 1916 or 1917, on the Manacles rocks, between the Lizard and Falmouth.
