Edith

The Edith was a two-masted schooner built by William White at Canal Side, Ulverston. She was launched in October 1876, named by Miss Gradwell according to the Barrow newspaper. She immediately entered the Duddon fleet of William Postlethwaite. Her master was Capt.Thomas Latham  (Capt.T.Latham named in Lloyd's Register 1877 to 1885). Postlethwaite sold the Edith in November 1891.

The Edith was sunk by a submarine on the 27th June 1915, ten miles SE of Capel Island. She was on passage from Silloth to Cork with a cargo of plaster of Paris.
