The schooner Elizabeth Worthington was built by William White at Ulverston in November 1866. In the newspaper report of her launch her first master is named as Capt.Henry Holmes. The schooner was bought by William Postlethwaite of Millom in the following year and was owned by him for thirty years.

Lloyd's List, 10th May 1878, Shipping Intelligence, column 22:

" FLEETWOOD, 8th May - the schooners Elizabeth Worthington and Nanny Latham, from Duddon, were in collision in the river early this morning, when the former had jibboom and bowsprit carried away and the latter port bulwarks slightly damaged.

The Elizabeth Worthington foundered on the 5th January 1900 at Waterford harbour, after colliding with the steamer Carlingford Lough. The schooner was bound from Porthcawl to Barrow with a coal cargo. At the time of the wreck she was still registered at Lancaster, but was owned by S.Roche of Ballygow, Co.Wexford.
