Mary Ann Mandall

The Mary Ann Mandall was a two-masted schooner built in August 1868 at the Ulverston shipyard of Margaret Wilson, the first vessel launched there after the death of her husband. The schooner joined the Millom fleet of William Postlethwaite, then later was bought by Charles Reney of Connah's Quay. She had a long life in the coasting trade, until she was wrecked in the Mersey in 1930.

During the First World War the Mary Sinclair and Mary Ann Mandall were attacked by a German submarine, off  Littlehampton in March 1918, but both schooners had been armed and managed to stave off their attacker until an armed trawler came to their assistance.
