The schooner Beatrice was built by what was to become the Furness Shipbuilding Company at Hindpool, Barrow, in July 1869. She was owned by the Barrow firm of James Fisher & Sons until 1899, when she was sold to A.Lord of Hull.

In Nov.1877 and Jan.1879 the master of the Beatrice was Capt. Forshaw, and the vessel was operating in the coasting trade.

The Beatrice was posted missing on the 9th November 1902, on passage from Fowey to Sunderland.
