The schooner City of St.Andrews was built by D.Pringle at Dundee in 1855. She was managed by James Fisher of Barrow from 1857 until 1872.

The Cumberland Pacquet and Ware's Whitehaven Advertiser, Tuesday, 19th February, 1861, page 6;

" The City of St.Andrews, of Barrow, was wrecked near the Isle of Man and Capt.Ditchfield and Henry Iddon both drowned. The vessel belonged to Mr.James Fisher, of Barrow, and was bound from the Clyde to Saltney with railway chairs."

The City of St.Andrews was berthed at Pembroke Dock on Census night in April 1881, with three crew aboard, all from Co.Down, headed by master Capt.J.McGlad. 

Carrying coal from Garston to Newry, on the night of 9th May 1882 the City of St.Andrews was wrecked on Taylor's Bank, in the River Mersey. The crew were saved by a river gig.
