The Confidence was built at Maryport by John Peat & Co. in 1837. She was a brig, and in 1840 was owned at Maryport by her builder, her master being Capt. Palmer Robinson. She was part of the Barrow fleet of James Fisher from 1857 until her loss in 1870.

The Confidence was lost at Aberthaw on the 28th November 1870.
