The Swift was a single-masted smack built at Glasson Dock in 1839. She was owned in Barrow by James Fisher and S.Bell in equal shares in November 1848 and was sold by them in May 1850.

In October 1870 the Swift was registered at Dumfries, and was described as a two-masted wherry, owned by George Black of Palnackie.She was sold to William Richards, coal merchant of Kirkcudbright in 1872. On the 24th September 1873 the Swift was wrecked at Abbey Burn Foot, her registry being closed two weeks later.
