Alfred Stonard
Official Number
?????

The Alfred Stonard was built at the Ulverston Canal Foot shipyard of EJ Schollick and was launched on Monday 20th August 1860. She was a brig, 160 tons register, 300 tons burthen, and was the sixth vessel launched by the owner, Stonard, in the last five years. The launch report mentions that John Wilson, the yard foreman who later took over the running of the shipyard, was credited with building a fine ship. He was also presented with a medal for lifesaving, which is strange because another newspaper report states that he was once saved from drowning by a dog that leapt into the water to save him !

According to the newspaper report of her loss, the Alfred Stonard was a brig. She sailed from Cardiff on the 3rd January 1867 and was not heard of thereafter. Her owner was named as EJ Schollick of Ulverston and her master was named as Capt. Thomas Hodgson.
