The Ant was a sloop built at Ulverston in April 1825. She was originally registered at Lancaster, then at Dumfries from 1833, and then Wigtown from 1836. She was rebuilt at Wigtown in 1852 after being damaged by fire in the previous year, and when she was re-registered at Wigtown in 1858 she was described as a schooner of only 28 tons.
The Ant was destroyed by fire in Fleet Bay, near Gatehouse, on
the 29th May 1872.
