The Ant was a schooner built at the Petty & Postlethwaite shipyard at Ulverston in April 1849. She was registered at Lancaster throughout her career.

The Ant foundered 4 miles SW of Burrow Head (Wigtownshire) on the 12th November 1885. She was bound from Maryport for Carnlough, Co.Antrim, with a coal cargo. The crew were taken off by the Margaret and landed at Maryport. The schooner was still registered at Lancaster, but owned in Glasgow.
