Bardsea

The Bardsea was a schooner built at Ulverston in 1798. She was rebuilt at Maryport in 1821 and at Whitehaven in 1835. The vessel was registered at Whitehaven in 1840 and at Dumfries from 1854. At Whitehaven in 1840 the Bardsea was described as a galliot, owned by Joseph Tyson.

The Bardsea was lost on voyage from Peel to Water of Urr in 1866 (source 1). She foundered outside Whitehaven harbour in a storm on the 7th December 1866 with the loss of all hands (3 crew). She was carrying guano from Liverpool to Dalbeattie (see Source 3).
