From the Times newspaper, Weds., 22nd March, 1882, page 10 :
" The Ellen & Sarah, of Barrow, from Workington, laden with rails, has arrived at Fleetwood with the loss of foretopmast and all sails and spars attached. The mate states that the master was lost overboard yesterday morning in a hevy gale."
