Lilly Green
Official Number
45410

The Lilly Green was a schooner which appears to have operated in the years between 1863 and 1910. In several reports her name is spelt as "Lily Green" and I do not know which spelling is correct. It appears that she was built about 1863 and was probably first registered at Liverpool (see Sources 1 and 2).

At the time of the 1881 Census, the Lilly Green was at Llanbeblig, Caernarvonshire, Evan Owens, of Conway, master (see Source 3).

In February 1891 the Lily Green, Douglas for Liverpool with turnips, collided with a steamer in fog and was towed into Holyhead. The newspaper report of the incident stated that the schooner was owned by a Barrow firm (see Source 4).

On the 26th January 1903 three men were taken off the schooner Lily Green by the Moelfre lifeboat Star of Hope (see Source 5).

On 16th December 1910 at Milford Haven the Lily Green was damaged by collision with the vessel Fanny, which had broken away from its moorings. The Lily Green drove ashore and was badly damaged. Her owners received damages in a subsequent court case (see Source 6).
