The Mary Kelly was a schooner built at the Petty & Postlethwaite shipyard at Ulverston in November 1841. She was owned by Richard Roper, Benson Harrison and Montague Ainslie (see Source 1).

From crew lists (see Source 2) her crew in 1854 were listed as follows :

John Brewer,  age 53, born Ulverston, Master
(joined this vessel 6th November 1841, previous vessel Richard of Ulverston)

John Swainson,  age 34, born Penny Bridge Mate
(joined this vessel 28th March 1853, previous vessel Jane Roper of Ulverston)

John Soulby,  age 26, born Ulverston Seaman
(joined this vessel 28th March 1853, previous vessel Lynensis of Scilly)

William Holmes,  age 20, born Ulverston, Ord'y Seaman
(joined this vessel as O.S. 4th August 1853 after serving his time on board)

The Mary Kelly was still registered at Lancaster and owned by Richard Roper of Newland Furnace, Ulverston, in 1865 (see Source 3).
