Twin Sisters

The Twin Sisters was a two-masted schooner built at Rothesay on the island of Bute. Her first master listed in the Lancaster Shipping Register is Capt.William Tyson, and her owner from the date of her registry in September 1862 was Samuel Jervis of Barrow-in-Furness.

A vessel named the Twin Sisters was berthed at Barrow for the Census on 1st April 1881. Her crew were named as Matthew Sutton Iddon, mate, of Tarleton, and William Johnson, seaman, of Manchester.

The registry of the Twin Sisters was transfered from Lancaster to Stranraer in 1883, her new owner being John Marshall of Drummore, Co.Wigtown. In 1928 the vessel was sold to the Wyllie family, Dumfries grain merchants. The Twin Sisters was broken-up at Drummore and her registry closed in January 1936.
