The Lyra was a schooner built by Gale in the Isle of Man, in 1875.

On the 8th December 1886 the schooners Lyra and Margaret Garton, both of Castletown, were anchored in a full easterly gale in Scrabster Roads, Pentland Firth. The schooners were in danger of being driven ashore, and the crews were taken off by the Thurso lifeboat Charley Lloyd.

The Lyra was owned by W.Carine of Port St.Mary when she was wrecked on the Carrick Rock, off Port St.Mary, on the 3rd January 1888. She had been sailing from Runcorn to Dublin with a salt cargo. One of her four crew was lost.
