The Mary Wilkinson was a smack built at Port St. Mary in 1847. In 1854 when she was lost her owner was Thomas Woods, of Port St Mary.
On the 27th May 1854 the Mary Wilkinson,
carrying a cargo of scrap iron and under the command of Capt. Kneen, was
on passage to Liverpool from Belfast. The smack developed a leak
when some 16 miles off Maughold Head and almost immediately began to founder.
Capt.Kneen and the crew abandoned the sinking vessel in her small boat
