The Natal was a barque built at the Bath shipyard at Douglas, Isle of Man, launched on the 24th February 1849. She was owned by James Atkin, of Liverpool (56 shares), who owned the Bath shipyard, and John Winram, the shipbuilder there (8 shares). Her first master was Augustus Bergho (see Source 1).
