The Venus was a smack built in the Isle of Man in 1839. She was owned in Derbyhaven when lost on passage from Maryport to Douglas, whilst carrying 60 tons of coal, on the 10th December 1874. She had started taking in water under the stress of a force 9 gale. Her three crew abandoned the vessel off Point of Ayre, and she subsequently foundered.
