The Barbadoes Packet was
a brigantine built by John Brockbank at Lancaster. She was first
registered at Lancaster on the 31st March 1803. Her first master,
and part-owner, was Capt.William Woodhouse. Source 3 states that she
cost £2097 to build (£10 14s per ton). The Barbadoes Packet was sold to
Liverpool
owners in March 1804.
From Lloyd's List, 11th January 1805, page 1;
“ Barbadoes
Packet, Smith, from Africa, is arrived at Demerara, after
beating off two privateers near that colony.”
From the Caledonian Mercury, 4th October 1806 (citing from Lloyd's
Marine List, 30th Sept.);
“ The Barbadoes
Packet, Bird, from Berbice, is onshore near Holyhead; cargo
landing.”
The Barbadoes Packet was not
listed in Lloyd's Register of Shipping after 1812.
