The Times, 30th September 1889, page 7 :

"The schooner Lancashire Lass, of Fleetwood, laden with China clay, was abandoned on Saturday night after collision, off Dungeness, with pilot schooner No.9, of Rotterdam. The crew of the Lancashire Lass landed at Folkestone yesterday morning. No.9 put into Dover considerably damaged."
The Times, 1st October 1889, page 5 :
"The crew of the three-masted schooner Lancashire Lass, of Fleetwood, were received at the National Sailors' Home, Dover, yesterday, their vessel having foundered in the Channel. From a statement made by the master, Captain Slogette, it appears that the Lancashire Lass was bound from the West of England to Rotterdam with a cargo of china-clay. Shortly before dawn on Sunday morning they were in collision off Dungeness with the pilot schooner No.9, of Rotterdam. Both vessels were badly damaged, and the Lancashire Lass quickly began to fill. She gradually settled down in the water and ultimately foundered, the crew saving themselves by taking to the long-boat. The crew of the Dutch schooner left their vessel after the collision, thinking she would sink, and went on board another Dutch vessel. They kept together until daybreak, when the crew of the pilot schooner returned to their vessel, which was then taken into Dover Harbour. She has sustained considerable damage to starboard-side sails and rigging."
