Lancashire Lass

Official Number
284

The Lancashire Lass was a wooden schooner built by Nicholson & Simpson. She was launched at Glasson Dock on Monday, 3rd May 1847, and the newspaper report of her launch stated that she was the first vessel built there to have clipper bows, and that she had a full-length female figurehead. Her owner was R.Parkinson, of Ellel Cottage, and it was his wife who christened the schooner as she was launched.

The Lancashire Lass was yellow-metalled and spent her first years in foreign trade. Towards the end of the 1850's she was sold to owners at Sligo, and spent her final years in the coasting trade. The Lancashire Lass sailed from Liverpool for Brucklass, Donegal Bay, on the 19th October 1864, and was never seen again.

A different schooner named Lancashire Lass was owned in Fleetwood, and another was owned in Whitehaven.
