The Otter was a 34 ton fishing smack built by John Brockbank at Lancaster and launched on the 23rd March 1803 (the same day as the launch of the 14 ton smack, Three Brothers, from Smith's yard at Skerton).

The Otter, fishing boat, of Lancaster, struck upon a rock near Ravenglass during gales in February 1808 (when the Harriet was lost). The crew saved themselves.
