The Result was a schooner built to Special Survey at Matthew Simpson's shipyard at Glasson Dock. She was launched on Weds., 16th September 1868, fully-rigged and ready for sea. She was the third schooner built by Simpson for the management of Edmund Porter, of Fleetwod, having been preceeded by the Dairy Maid and the James & Mary.

The Result was wrecked off Cape Gris Nez on the evening of Saturday, 24th November 1877, during a gale. The five crew were saved.
