The Richard was an armed brig built at Lancaster in 1792. She was captured by an enemy privateer in 1801.

From Lloyd's List 26th February 1802, page 1;

“The Richard, Thompson, bound to Liverpool, sailed from Curacao 25th October last, and not since heard of.”

From Lloyd's List 6th April 1802, page 1;

“ The Richard, Thompson, from Curacao to Lancaster, was captured by a privateer some months since. The captain is carried to Carthagena. Five men killed and five men wounded on board the Richard.”
