The Eleanor was a smack built at Douglas, Isle of Man, in 1828. In her early years she was a packet vessel operating between Liverpool and Douglas, but later was modified for cargo duties.

The Eleanor brought a coal cargo to the copper mines at Bradda Head on the 10th October, 1861. The following day she departed for Douglas in ballast, but lay at the foot of the cliffs due to an easterly wind. The master left a man on watch when he went for some rest at 6 am, but this man then went below and fell asleep, and the vessel struck the rocks at 8 am. The crew saved themselves by rowing to shore in their small boat, but their vessel was totally wrecked by the following tide. Her owner at the time was Anson Duxbury, of Douglas.
