Maid of Mona

The Maid of Mona was built by Messrs.Fullarton at the Ayr Shipbuilding Yard, for Mr.John Moore, of Douglas, Isle of Man. She was launched on Saturday, 6th January 1866 and was described at her launch as a "clipper schooner" of 270 tons burthen. She had been ordered by John Moore, of Douglas, Isle of Man, who already owned the Laxey Mines, built at the same shipyard. The Maid of Mona was intended for the fruit trade.

The Maid of Mona was registered in the Isle of Man until 1893, then was sold to owners in Devon. She was re-registered at Plymouth and continued her career until about 1901.
