The Dundee Courier & Argus, Friday, 2nd August 1867;

" ARRIVAL OF A WHITE SEA CREW AT HARTLEPOOL - On Wednesday the crew of the three-masted schooner Ken arrived at Hartlepool from Archangel en route for Dundee. The Ken left Hartlepool early in May for Archangel, and in June became ice-bound. She started her stern-post, became leaky, and foundered. The crew, seven in number including Captain Lewis, saved a portion of their clothing and travelled several miles across the ice and landed on Cross Island. The Ken was the property of Mr.R.Brewis, Albion Terrace, Hartlepool, and was only insured for one-third of her value."
