North Barrule

The North Barrule was a two-masted wooden schooner built by K.Graves at Ramsey in the Isle of Man in 1880. From 1909 to1925 the schooner was owned by J.Carswell and Sons of  Dalbeattie.

She was sold to William Bennet of Connah's Quay on the 31st July 1925. Like the Margaret Ann, another Solway-owned vessel, she was one of the earliest schooners to be fitted with an auxiliary motor. She seems to have stayed at Connah's Quay well into the 1930's, and in February 1937 (see photo) she survived grounding in the Menai Straights, Anglesey. Source 2 states that the vessel was lost at either Nevin (North Wales) or the Menai Straights, but does not give a date.
