Ann Pitcairn Sharp | Official Number

The Ann Pitcairn Sharp was a barque built at Maryport in
1855. She was owned at that port throughout her brief career, much of
which was spent on the Pacific coast of South and Central America.
The Times, Thursday, 1st October 1857, page 10;
" REWARDS FOR SUCCOUR AT SEA.-LIVERPOOL, Sept.30.-At a special
meeting of the Liverpool Local Marine Board, held today at the Sailor's
Home.....A magnificent chronometer, worth upwards of 100 guineas, from
the President of the United States, was also presented to Captain Robert
Glaister Sharp, of the British bark Ann Pitcairn Sharp, who in February,
1857, rescued the captain and crew of the ship Cathedral of Boston,
which foundered in the Pacific; 27 of her crew were put on board the bark
Burns
and taken to Valparaiso, the remaining 8 being conveyed to Arica. While
on board the Ann Pitcairn Sharp the whole crew were most kindly
treated."
The Times, Thursday, 2nd January 1862, page 8;
" The British bark Anne Pitcairn, Captain Sharp, (sic)
of Maryport, which sailed from Cobija on the afternoon of the 13th of November
for Galico, a loading port five miles to the north of Cobija, struck upon
a rock on the evening of that day, and had become a total wreck; the cargo,
consisting of some 300 bales of wool and 1,000 hides, was saved, but in
a damaged state."
