Bella Portena

The Bella Portena (sometimes Bella Portina) was a brig built at Maryport by Kelsick Wood, launched on the 23rd April 1837. She was built for the trade to Argentina.

In 1851 the Bella Portena sailed to Ceylon, under the command of Capt.Pyott.

The Bella Portena was lost on the Braganza shoals, at the mouth of the Amazon, on the 20th December 1857, without loss of life. She was bound from Liverpool for Parahyba.
