Myrtle Holme
Official Number
72921

The Myrtle Holme was an iron ship built at Sunderland in June 1875. She was owned by Maryport's Holme Line (Hine Brothers). Judging from their Official Numbers, four other new vessels were bought by Hine Brothers at the same time (72922 was Aikshaw, 72923 was Castle Holme, 72924 was Alneburgh and 72925 was Alne Holme, all registered at Maryport).

In 1908 the Myrtle Holme was sold by Hine Bros. to Norwegian owners based at Arendal. She was renamed Glimt, and was sunk by a submarine in the North Sea on the 4th September 1915. She had been on a voyage from Ellesmere Port to Gaspe in ballast (see Source 5).

A later steamship owned by Hine Brothers was also named Myrtle Holme. She had originally been named the Imperial Prince, and had been owned by Furness Withy. She was bought by Hine Bros. in 1913 (see Source 4).
