From the "Cumberland Pacquet and Ware's Whitehaven Advertiser", Tuesday, 26th September 1848, page 3 :
" The Capricorn, Corney, of Maryport, from Jamaica for London, was wrecked on the Hogsties, on the 10th August. Part of the cargo landed, and the remainder also expected to be saved.- Assistance has been sent to her from Nassau. "

The Capricorn was a brig, built in 1827 and owned in Liverpool at the time of her loss. She was wrecked on the Hogsties, a reef in the southern Bahamas, on the 10th August 1848. Possibly the wrecked vessel was burnt after her cargo had been salvaged (see Source 1).
