The Elizabeth Ostle was a barque built at the Ritson shipyard, Maryport in March 1869. Originally owned by Ritson and Co., she was first registered at Maryport, then at Liverpool from 1871 until 1875, then Maryport. Her owners from 1876 to 1896 were named as Hayton & Simpson. Her masters are named as Tinmouth (1874-7), W.Flinn (1878-81), A.Heselton (1882), O.Lamb (1883) and J.R.Rennie (1883-96).
