The Jane was a brigantine built at Maryport by John Peat  in 1799. In 1840 she was owned by Thomas Asbridge and others, and was commanded by Capt.Robert Sharp (see Source 2).

The Jane was "lost on the Banks of Newfoundland" and the registry closed at Maryport on the 29th June 1861 (see Source 1).
