John & Sarah | Official Number

|
The John & Sarah was a brig built at Maryport in 1804 or
1805. She was commanded by Capt.Jonathan Johnson until at least
1809, possibly longer, and seems to have been owned and registered at
Maryport throughout her life.
In February 1823 a newspaper reported the loss of a vessel named John & Sarah
off Newfoundland, bound from Quebec for Liverpool. It is possible that
this was the Maryport brig, but this will have to be confirmed (Lloyd's
List, the Maryport Shipping Register, or possibly the Cumberland
Pacquet newspaper). It could equally refer to a ship of the same name, also built at Maryport, or another vessel entirely.
