Lady Huntley
Official Number
12623

The Lady Huntley was a brigantine, registered at Maryport in the period 1857 to 1865.

From the Times newspaper, Saturday, 13th December, 1856, page 11 :

SHIPPING DISASTERS IN THE IRISH CHANNEL.- WHITEHAVEN, Thursday.- The weather has greatly moderated since Monday, but intelligence has been received here of several wrecks off the Cumberland coast. Among others may be mentioned the schooner Lady Huntingdon, of Maryport, and the brigs Swift, of Whitehaven, and Derwent, of Workington, all of which are complete wrecks, but the crews are saved.
The Times report may have been mistaken - the vessel named as the Lady Huntingdon could have been the Lady Huntley, or possibly the Huntingdon, another brigantine also listed as belonging to Maryport in 1865 (see Source 2). Note that it is not uncommon for vessels reported as being total wrecks to later be recovered and repaired.
