Launch report from the "Cumberland Pacquet and Ware's Whitehaven Advertiser", Tuesday, 29th May 1849, page 3 :

" A splendid new brig was launched from the building-yard of Mr.J.Middleton, at Maryport, on Wednesday last, to which the name of Mary Ismay was given as she quitted the stocks on which she had been constructed. She was full rigged when launched, and will sail forthwith, being chartered to proceed round Cape Horn. "
