Capt. James Brockbank

Capt.James Brockbank was a certificated master (Cert.No. S 50388) who had been born in 1819 in Lancashire. The Captains Register for 1874 to 1879 lists the following vessels of which he had command: Eversfield and Joseph in 1875, Millom Castle in 1876, Joseph and Morris's in 1877, Francis in 1878 and Mary Watkinson, in the Mediterranean trade, in 1879.

For many years prior to this Capt. Brockbank had had command of the James & Agnes, from her launch in 1864. It is probable that this vessel was named after him and his wife. He took the schooner to the Spanish and Portuguese ore ports on the Guadiana Riiver, and to the Mediterranean.
