Affghan

The Affghan was a ship built at Whitehaven by Lumley Kennedy & Co. in 1851. She was owned by the Boadle family and operated in the East India trade.

The Affghan was reduced to a barque rig and was owned in South Shields when she was lost. She left the Tyne on the 19th November 1875 for Garrucha, under the command of Capt.Mathews and with a cargo of coal. She was not heard of again, though a lifeboat was picked up. She was owned by Allan & Co. at the time of her loss, and had a crew of fourteen, mostly belonging to South Shields.
