The Amethyst stranded in November 1889 and was bought by F.Rasmussen, a Danish owner who refloated her and repaired her. By 1890 she was in Mexican ownership under the name of Barbara y Luisa. By 1892 Norwegians had bought her and renamed her Anne Charlotte.

The Anne Charlotte was wrecked on the outer bar at Aracaju, Brazil, on the 27th December 1894, on passage from Newport. All the crew were saved.
