The Cumberland Pacquet and Ware's Whitehaven Advertiser, Tuesday, 5th July 1836;

" On Wednesday forenoon last, a handsome new barque, coppered and copper-fastened, and registering 275 tons, was launched from the building-yard of Messrs.Lumley Kennedy and Co., at this port. She was named the Ann and Jane, and was built for Capt.Cowx, of Liverpool. This vessel has been much admired since she left the stocks, and pronounced by nautical men, both as regards model and workmanship, equal to any ship launched at this port for a long time past."
