The Bleng was a brig built at Whitehaven by Lumley Kennedy & Co., launched 11th November 1836.

The Cumberland Pacquet & Ware's Whitehaven Advertiser, Tuesday, 15th November 1836;

" A handsome new vessel called the Bleng, of about 250 tons register measurement, was launched from the building yard of Messrs.Lumley Kennedy & Co.,  at this port, on Friday last. She was built for Mr.Younghusband, of Floraville, and is intended for the foreign trade."

In 1840 the Bleng was registered at Whitehaven, owned by Joseph Younghusband and her master was Capt.John M'Dowell. She was lost on the Pacific coast of Mexico later that year.

The Times, Tuesday, 16th February, 1841, page 7;

" SHIP NEWS : MAZATLAN, Nov.8 - It blew a terrific hurricane at San Blas on the 1st inst., during which all the vessels in the harbour were driven on shore. Amongst them the Bleng, from Liverpool, expected to become a total wreck, and the Maria del Carmel, which is expected off without much damage to her cargo. The Bleng had discharged her cargo."
