Ariel

The Ariel was a brig built by Thos. & Jno. Brocklebank at Bransty, Whitehaven. She was fourth vessel of this name built by Brocklebanks, and was launched on the 21st November 1862. She was registered at Whitehaven and was owned by T.Kelly, then W.R.Kelly. She was sold in the 1880's to W.Tyrell of Arklow, Co.Wicklow, and subsequently was re-riged as a schooner.

The Ariel was wrecked on North Point, island of Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides on the 1st May 1900. She had been on passage from Dublin to Perth with a cargo of "Goulding's manure" (guano).
