From the Cumberland Pacquet and Ware’s Whitehaven Advertiser, Tuesday, 3rd October, 1848, page 3:

“ The schooner, Mary Ann, Nelson, of and from this port for Cardiff, with iron ore, sprung a leak on the 25th ult., ten mile N.W. of Lundy Island, and sunk, the crew having only just time to take to the boat, and was picked up by the Bremen galliot Experimenter and landed at Cardiff. “
