Sarah Burnyeat

The Sarah Burnyeat was a barque, built January 1862 at Southwick.  In 1865 she was registered at Whitehaven and was owned by Benjamin Barwise.

From "The Scotsman", Tuesday, 4th March, 1873, page 5:

" SHIPPING ACCIDENTS - The barque Sarah Burnyeat of Whitehaven, Captain Lambart, Madras to London with a general cargo, went ashore on Sunday mornng on the Scilly Isles, and according to the latest intelligence still remained fast. Crew saved."
From 1878 the barque was registered first at London, then from 1886 at Freemantle, when she was owned by the Adelaide Steamship Company. The Sarah Burnyeat was lost by fire at Princess Royal Harbour, Albany, Western Australia, on the 28th December 1894, still owned by the Adelaide Steamship Company.
