The Cumbrian was a brig built at Whitehaven, launched 23rd Sept.1816 by William Bowes & Son. In 1840 she was registered at Whitehaven and was owned by Capt.John Roper, her master, and others.

In 1865 the vessel was registered at Whitehaven, owned by Capt.Roper, her master (see Source 4).

The Cumbrian was stranded and wrecked in Strangford Lough on the 3rd July 1874, carrying a coal cargo.
