The Dale, variously described as a ship or brigantine, was built at Whitehaven by Samuel Nicholson and was launched on the 29th November 1804.

The Dale was registered as a Maryport vessel in 1828. On the 2nd November 1835 she was wrecked off Killough, Ireland, whilst carrying a coal cargo from Maryport to Dublin. The ten crew were all drowned.
