The Jane & Jessie was a brig built by Lumley Kennedy & Co. at Whitehaven, launched on the 13th August 1839. In the following year she was registered at Whitehaven and was under the command of Capt. John Campbell, her principal owner.

The Jane & Jessie was stranded and lost on Barber Sands, near Caister, Norfolk on the 30th August 1882.  She was on passage from Poole to Unst , Shetland Islands with a cargo of building materials. She was under the command of Capt.J.Bie, her owner from the Isle of Whithorn, though she was still registered at Whitehaven. She carried a crew of five.
